How the DraftKings Casino sign-up bonus works

The DraftKings sign-up bonus has positives and negatives compared to the bonuses at some of the other leading online casinos in the US. While the BetRivers bonus imposes an easier playthrough requirement on its deposit bonus (1x vs. 15x), it will only match up to $250. Plus, BetRivers doesn’t include a no deposit bonus.

And among casinos that do offer no deposit bonuses, such as BetMGM ($25), Unibet ($10) and Golden Nugget ($10), DraftKings’ $35 stands out.

To receive the no deposit bonus, just select the “Claim free credits” button when you visit the DraftKings site, then register for your new account. Use the free credits to play any casino games you like for 24 hours, and any winnings are yours.

The second half of the welcome bonus is more complicated. To get started, select the “Deposit bonus” button and opt in. Next, deposit at least $5 to qualify for the 100% matching bonus plus an extra $35 in bonus credits.

The deposit offer comes with a 15x playthrough requirement, and that requirement applies to the deposit plus the bonus. So if you deposited $50 and received $50 in bonus funds, you’d have to wager $1,500 to meet the playthrough requirement. And that’s if you play only slots.

That’s because not all casino games contribute equally toward the requirement. Here are the percentages each game contributes:

Most slots, keno, virtual sports100%
Blackjack, other table games, some slots20%
Live dealer, video poker, baccarat, roulette10%
Craps, other variety games0%

So, using the above example, if you played just blackjack, you would have to wager $7,500 to meet the requirement on your combined $100 deposit and bonus. You must meet the playthrough requirement within 30 days, or you forfeit any bonus funds and winnings from those funds.

Other DraftKings Casino promos and Dynasty Rewards

Past promotions at DraftKings Casino include a rebate that provided players with $1 in bonus credits for each $5 they bet on casino games, up to a total of $10. Another promotion handed out a total of $130,000 in bonus credits during a month based on blackjack winning streaks.

Leaderboard contests can be short-term, such as just a few hours during the afternoon or early evening, or last weeks, even months.

In addition to DraftKings’ VIP program, which is invitation-only, all players automatically join Dynasty Rewards at registration. Every dollar you wager at DraftKings will earn crowns, which you can redeem for DK Dollars, free credits, merchandise, gift cards, and more. You’ll receive one crown for each of the following wagers:

Most Slots$2
Keno and virtual sports$2
Select slots and table games$5
Most table games$8

How to sign up for a DraftKings Casino account in Illinois

It’s a snap to open a new DraftKings Casino account, although you will need to be at least 21 years old. To get started, navigate to the casino site using your web or mobile browser.

Click the sign-up button in the top right corner of the welcome screen. You’ll then need to fill out a form with details like your full name, address, email, date of birth, phone number, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Once DraftKings has verified your information, you’re all set to start checking out the online casino.

Downloading the DraftKings Casino Illinois app

The DraftKings app is available for free on Android and iOS mobile devices. To download it, follow these steps:

  • Visit the DraftKings Casino site on your mobile browser and create an account if you haven’t already.
  • A banner with an invitation to download the app will display on the screen.
  • Tap the green “Download Now” button to start the process.
  • Next, tap the download button appropriate for your operating system.
  • Android users will transfer to the Google Play Store, and Apple users will land at the App Store.
  • Install the app. Once that’s complete, click to open the app and log in.
  • You’ll need to allow the app access to your location to be able to play games.

As a daily fantasy sports provider since 2012, DraftKings has had time to optimize its software. The result is a swift, smooth, stable app for online casinos, as well.

In some states, online sportsbooks, casinos, and DFS platforms all from one app. Other states offer a standalone DraftKings Casino app. Either way, navigation is easy, and the app includes nearly everything that you’d find on the web-based version of the site, including most of the games.

The app navigation bar gives you a range of categories to sort the games, including new, featured, slots, progressive jackpots, roulette, blackjack, variety, and table games. We also selected the “All games” tab on the app to see how fast they’d load. We were pleased to find that our scrolling speed couldn’t keep up with the loading speed.

Top features of the DraftKings Casino app

DraftKings has put together an outstanding online casino that measures up well to its competitors. Here are some of the main areas where we thought it did well and not so well:

  • Excellent app: DraftKings’ app — and web platform — is outstanding. We played a number of games and had a smooth, stable experience. Nearly all games are available on the app, as are most site features.
  • Game library: DraftKings has licensing agreements in place with all the top game studios, in addition to a selection of exclusives.
  • Trusted company: DraftKings has deep ties to its customers dating back to its DFS launch nearly a decade ago.

  • Organization: Integration between new and old information on the DraftKings site is sometimes less than efficient. You can find out-of-date information mixed in with new information, which is confusing.
  • Deposit bonus: The wagering requirement of 15x the deposit plus the bonus is quite high, making the maximum $50 bonus out of reach of anyone but high rollers.
  • Other promotions: DraftKings has offered dozens of leaderboard promos in the past but had none available at the time of this review.

Available games at DraftKings online casino

Since every state with a new legal, regulated gambling industry authorizes the games you can play there, a potential DraftKings Casino in Illinois will take some time before it can catch up to the game collections it offers in states like New Jersey and Michigan.

The good news? Licensing agreements between DraftKings and a slew of third-party game studios are already in place. Not only that, but DraftKings has a significant library of in-house games, as well.

One thing we like about the game lobby on the DraftKings app is that each title shows its minimum and maximum wagers. The full-sized version of the site doesn’t offer this feature, but you’ll be able to find the same information in each game’s interface.

For this review, we’re highlighting the best games that DraftKings offers in other states. For instance, DraftKings Casino in Michigan has nearly 600 titles, with options that go beyond slots to include craps, keno, instant win scratch-offs, Slingo, virtual sports and live dealer titles from Evolution Gaming.

Other software developers you can expect to find include IGT, Bally, NetEnt, Red Tiger Gaming, ReelPlay, Ainsworth Gaming, NextGen, SG Digital, Just for the Win, Spin Games and Games Lab.

Online slots

In New Jersey and Michigan, DraftKings offers 500-plus slots in a variety of themes and styles. Some will be low-volatility slots, offering more frequent but smaller wins. On the other end of the spectrum are DraftKings’ progressive jackpot slots, like one of these:

  • Blood Suckers (NetEnt)
  • Total Meltdown (Everi)
  • Double Bullseye Jackpot (Everi)
  • DraftKings Blackjack
  • DraftKings Roulette
  • DraftKings Baccarat

And if you aren’t sure where to start, here are a few of our favorite options:

  • Golden Cryptex: From Red Tiger Gaming, this five-by-three slot has three paylines and a beautiful, intricate steam-punk design. The action is simple, but we like the way the graphics enrich the experience. In this game, the cryptex is a complicated machine that functions like a combination lock. Your mission is to crack the cryptex code to unlock big wins. Five sevens on any payline will win 450x your original wager or trigger the Golden Spins bonus round. This game has medium volatility and a return-to-player rate of 95.78%. The visual experience is the main attraction, but we also like the chance at bigger payouts.
  • Roaming Reels Raging Roosters: This new title from Ainsworth Gaming offers wacky weirdness along with four fixed jackpots. The theme is a mash-up between the majestic African savanna and a slew of angry, clucking chickens. The five-reel, 25-payline slot also includes several bonus features, including our favorite, the Raging Roosters bonus, which has an interactive martial arts theme. You’re looking to eliminate as many chickens as possible to climb the levels. You get five chances to defeat your opponents. Whatever level you end up at will win the corresponding jackpot. This game has an RTP of 96.15%, high volatility and off-the-charts bizarreness.
  • Adventures of Captain Blackjack: This pirate-themed slot has a five-by-three grid and 20 paylines. Collect kraken coins to earn a chance to spin the kraken wheel for one of four jackpots up to 5,000x your original wager. Spin three jolly roger symbols to trigger the free spin bonus round. To start the round, choose from nine treasure chests to add items such as extra spins, multipliers or a wild/symbol upgrade. This title is nothing fancy, but the nostalgia factor is high.
  • Reel LinKing: With its five-by-three grid, 20 fixed paylines and classic fruit symbols, this new slot from Inspired Gaming works hard to look retro, but you’ll find a number of modern features. During the Reel King bonus round, the reels will glow yellow, and up to five king symbols will land on the grid, causing that reel to spin. Spin any winning combination of the lucky seven symbols for a big win. This game has medium variance and an RTP of about 95%.
  • The Age of Akkadia: This five-by-five, 10-payline slot from Red Tiger Gaming features cascading reels with a distinct twist. On a win, the center symbol will convert to a wild when the original win is a high-value symbol. Under the symbols, the grid spells out the word BONUS. You are looking for each letter until you’ve got the word. That will trigger a free spins bonus round that includes hidden multipliers up to 30x your original wager. This game is fresh and unusual, and that’s why we like it.

Other slots at DraftKings Casino include the following:

  • Balloonies (IGT)
  • The Enforcer (Ainsworth)
  • Hula Nights (WMS)
  • Mystery Express (IGT)
  • Bear Money (Inspired Gaming)
  • Mustang Money (Ainsworth)
  • 88 Fortunes (Shuffle Master)
  • Astro Cat (Lightning Box Games)
  • Fa Fa Babies (Red Tiger Gaming)
  • Holy Diver (Big Time Gaming)
  • Monopoly Electric Wins (WMS)
  • Rome: The Golden Age (NetEnt)
  • Scarab Link (Red Tiger Gaming)
  • Scudamore’s Super Stakes (NetEnt)
  • Monster Mash (The Games Company)
  • Attack of Retro (Triple Edge Studios)
  • Extra Chilli Megaways (Big Time Gaming)
  • The Elephant Gang (The Games Company)
  • 10,000 Wonders 10K Ways (ReelPlay)
  • 11 Enchanting Relics Epic Strike (All41 Studios)
  • Fairy Tale Legends: Mirror Mirror (NetEnt)
  • The Final Countdown (Big Time Gaming)
  • Big Prize Bubblegum Deluxe (Incredible Technologies)

Variety games

On top of slots, DraftKings may offer dozens of Slingo titles and other specialty games such as The Price is Right: Come on Down, Ghostbusters Spectral Search, and Wheel of Fortune Winning Words. You’ll also find some instant win scratch-off games, virtual sports from Spin Games and Inspired Entertainment, and more.

Click the variety tab in the navigation bar to see what’s available. Here are some potential keno titles:

  • Mad Yeti Keno (DraftKings)
  • Ancient Thunder Keno (Grand Vision Gaming)
  • Prairie Thunder Keno (Grand Vision Gaming)

Other specialty games include the following:

  • DraftKings Sic Bo
  • DraftKings Craps
  • First Person Craps (Evolution Gaming)
  • Football Studio (Evolution Gaming)
  • First Person Dragon Tiger (Evolution Gaming)

Table games

DraftKings offers one of the largest collections of table games in every state where it’s active. In Michigan, there are nearly 100 titles spanning table and video poker, blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. Of those, nearly half are exclusive DraftKings-branded titles that aren’t available elsewhere.

For baccarat fans, DraftKings offers one classic version along with three exclusives — DraftKings Baccarat, DraftKings High Limit Squeeze Baccarat, and DraftKings Lunar New Year Baccarat.

As usual, DraftKings offers a solid selection of branded games here, as well. Roulette fans may find the following titles on hand:

  • DraftKings Roulette
  • DraftKings Big Wheel
  • 100/1 Roulette (NetEnt)
  • Blazing 7s Roulette (SG Gaming)
  • Double Bonus Spin Roulette (IGT)
  • DraftKings American Roulette
  • DraftKings European Roulette
  • Monopoly Big Spin (Shuffle Master)
  • First Person Roulette (Evolution Gaming)
  • First Person Lightning Roulette (Evolution Gaming)

We like the DraftKings-branded games, which is convenient because there are more than a dozen of them. They all use the same standard rules, but the themed graphics are fun and well-designed.

You can also control a number of game features using built-in toggle switches, including audio, animation, insurance and left-hand play. Double down or split up to three times, with the exception of aces, which you can split just once. DraftKings blackjack games have an average RTP of 99.62%, which is pretty good.

There’s also a DraftKings version of Spanish 21, along with a number of titles from other game studios, including these variants:

  • Blackjack Xchange (Slingo)
  • Players Suite Blackjack (IGT)
  • Blazing 7s Blackjack (Bally)
  • Zappit Blackjack (SG Digital)
  • Poker & Pairs Blackjack (IGT)
  • Poker & Pairs Blackjack Surrender (IGT)

Video poker

DraftKings and IGT work hand-in-hand when it comes to video poker. You’ll find the classic Game King video poker suite, along with multi-hand variants Triple, Five and Ten Play Draw Poker, and Triple, Five and Ten Play Ultimate X Poker. Each of these titles includes a slate of variants:

  • Joker Poker
  • Bonus Poker
  • Jacks or Better
  • Double Bonus Poker
  • Deuces Wild Poker
  • Bonus Poker Deluxe
  • Double Double Bonus Poker
  • Triple Double Bonus Poker
  • Deuces Wild Bonus Poker

DraftKings also offers table poker games, including the following:

  • DJ Wild
  • Let It Ride
  • Casino War
  • Three Card Stud
  • Casino Stud
  • Bet the Set 21
  • Three Card Poker
  • Four Card Poker
  • Mississippi Stud
  • I Love Suits Poker
  • Texas Hold’em Plus
  • Casino Hold’em Poker
  • Fortune Pai Gow Poker
  • Ultimate Texas Hold’em
  • Texas Hold’em Showdown (DraftKings)

Live dealer games

DraftKings doesn’t offer live dealer games in all of the states where its casino operates — West Virginia, for instance, does not have them — but they are available in the bulk of states so far. If DraftKings Casino is ever able to launch in Illinois, we’ll see what would be available, but it would likely include DraftKings exclusive live dealer gamers:

  • Live Dealer Poker
  • Live Dealer Roulette
  • Live Dealer Baccarat
  • Live Dealer Blackjack
  • Live Infinite Blackjack

Some DraftKings online casinos in other states also have a Game Shows lobby, which may offer the following live games:

  • Mega Ball
  • Crazy Time
  • Dream Catcher
  • Monopoly Live
  • Deal or No Deal

Free and real money casino games at DraftKings

DraftKings will allow you to try most games for free in demo mode. Just click on a game graphic and select “Demo Mode” to get started. DraftKings will set you up with a number of credits to play for free.

Of course, any winnings will also be in credits, so you won’t be able to cash out any actual money while you’re playing in demo mode. Even so, we like demoing new games so we can figure out how the wagering works and learn the rules.

DraftKings Casino withdrawal and payment options

As one of the top daily fantasy sports providers in the US, DraftKings already offers a variety of safe and secure banking methods that will also work with online casino transactions.

Our go-to method for deposits and withdrawals is Trustly’s online banking. As long as your personal bank is a member of Trustly’s network, transferring money into your DraftKings wallet is about as simple as an ATM transaction.

DraftKings will accept credit and debit cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover), but not all banks will allow transactions with online casinos. You can check with your card-issuing bank to find out more. Be sure to ask about potential cash advance fees. You’ll need to deposit a minimum of $5 in all instances. Here are the other options:

  • PayPal: If your bank is not a member of Trustly’s banking network, this method is an excellent alternative.
  • VIP Preferred: This ACH e-check method is also a good alternative to online banking.
  • DraftKings Play+ prepaid card: Must apply at time of deposit. Cash advance fees may apply.
  • DraftKings prepaid gift card: Available at participating retailers.
  • Cash voucher: PayNearMe is one example of a cash voucher system. Available at participating retailers.
  • Wire transfer: $100 minimum deposit.
  • Cash at the cage: If DraftKings launches in Illinois, the relevant location for this would be the DraftKings at Casino Queen Sportsbook in East St. Louis.

Once DraftKings has verified your account, it will typically take only a short time to conduct an internal review of any withdrawal requests. For the top four payment methods below, the transaction will be near-instant.

  • Online banking: You’ll need to make a deposit via this method before you can use it for withdrawals.
  • PayPal: This one also requires a deposit before you can withdraw using it.
  • VIP Preferred: Also requires a deposit first.
  • DraftKings Play+ prepaid card: Fees may apply.
  • Wire transfer: Contact customer service for help. May take up to eight business days before it will appear in your account.
  • Check by mail: Withdrawal checks greater than $2,000 arrive via FedEx Next Day Delivery and require signature confirmation. Checks less than $2,000 but more than $100 use FedEx Ground Delivery and may take up to seven days. Checks less than $100 will use USPS mail and may take up to two weeks.

Customer service at DraftKings Casino

DraftKings has fleshed out its casino FAQ nicely since we looked at it last. At this point, we feel comfortable recommending that players seek help there first with general questions. The new FAQ section is thorough and nicely organized into helpful topics, including banking, Dynasty Rewards, account management and responsible gambling.

To reach the help center, click your profile icon in the top corner of the screen when on the website, or tap the hamburger icon on the app. Next, select the “Get Help” link to transfer to the FAQ. You’ll also find links for live chat, an online web form, email and a callback request form.

Is DraftKings Casino legal in Illinois?

No. At the moment, Illinois does not allow any online casinos that offer real money gambling in the state. There have been efforts to change this, including the Internet Gaming Act, which Illinois Sen. Cristina Castro and Rep. Robert Rita introduced in 2021. The bill did not make it all the way that legislative session, however, so we’ll have to wait to see if anything comes of it or another bill in the future.

If online casino gambling does become legal in the state, you will need to be 21 or older and located within state lines in order to play.

DraftKings online casino background

US-based DraftKings launched a start-up online daily fantasy sports site in 2012. After the US Supreme Court repealed the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 2018, DraftKings had the first online sportsbook to launch in New Jersey.

DraftKings soon began adding casino games as a sideline to its sportsbook. Eventually, the New Jersey online casino became just as popular as the sportsbook, and DraftKings began integrating online casinos into its sportsbooks in other states they were legal, including Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, and Connecticut.
