The Chicago Bulls have gone from zeros to heroes after being a non-factor in the NBA’s Eastern Conference for years.
Chicago is currently 21-10 and it’s the first time since 2016 that the Bulls are 10-plus games above .500. They currently hold the second-best record in the East and the fifth-best record in the NBA.
Off-season trades and acquisitions have been the difference, with players like DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball playing significant roles in the team’s success.
Below are some prop bets on the Bulls that may prove to be valuable as the season progresses.
Coach of the Year
Billy Donovan is +900 to claim this award, giving him the fourth-highest odds among all coaches.
Donovan led the Bulls to a 31-41 record last season and after a major overhaul of the roster, he already has Chicago on track for a postseason run.
There are 11 players on the active roster that weren’t playing in Chicago last season.
Donovan’s ability to get the team to mesh so quickly can only be attributed to his leadership abilities.
Defensive Player of the Year
Alex Caruso has arguably been the most impactful free agent signing after leaving the sunny beaches of Los Angeles for the cold shores of Lake Michigan.
Caruso is +6,000 to win DPOY which ranks as the 10th-best odds.
Caruso is tied for second in the NBA with two steals per game. But many of Caruso’s strongest attributes won’t show up on the stat sheet.
He constantly guards the opposing team’s most lethal offensive players and has an incredibly high basketball IQ. Caruso can diagnose an offensive play and clog lanes or prevent passes to effectively impact the rhythm of the entire offensive possession.
Central Division Winner
The Bulls may hold tremendous value at +215 as they’ve displayed the ability to beat the best teams in the association. The highlight victories of the season have come over: Utah, Brooklyn twice, Charlotte, and Denver.
The only team with better odds to win the division is the Milwaukee Bucks at -220, despite Chicago currently holding a .5 game lead for first place.
Chicago hasn’t squared off with Milwaukee yet, so it’s unclear how the two will match up when they meet on the hardwood.
