After months of operating as a venue without retail betting, DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field is now accepting bets. Kyle Long, former Chicago Bears player, placed the ceremonial first wager this weekend to celebrate the occasion.

The sportsbook is located at 1012 W. Addison Street and is open seven days a week. Exact hours will vary by season and event.

DraftKings celebrates sportsbook opening At Wrigley Field

As part of its partnership with the Chicago Cubs, DraftKings Sportsbook opened at Wrigley Field in June of 2023. While the space opened, betting was still prohibited. Though you could still place bets online at DraftKings Illinois sportsbook.

Retail sportsbook licenses are pricey in Illinois, so it took time. DraftKings had to fork up a whopping $10 million for the license, and it had to surmount many regulatory hurdles ahead of launch.

Illinois sports betting options are becoming even more robust for Chicago-area bettors. Now, DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field is the second Chicago retail sportsbook available in a sports arena. FanDuel Sportsbook was the first, having launched at the United Center in November 2022.

During the opening celebration, the sportsbook offered $1 Chicago-style hot dogs for two hours via food and beverage provider Levy.

“The reception has been great since opening the DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field last summer as a state-of-the art restaurant and bar, and we are excited to take our flagship venue to the next level with retail sports betting operations,” said Michael Kibort, Vice President, Product Operations at DraftKings. “Today’s celebration wouldn’t have been possible without the support from the Chicago Cubs, Levy and the Illinois Gaming Board. Together, we’re able to deliver customers a safe and regulated way to get in on the action while enjoying an incredible space to watch live sports.”

The sportsbook also boasts a 2,000-square-foot video screen that can display up to 25 sporting events simultaneously. It also has a scrolling display with odds, player information, current scores, and more. The space also has semi-private areas for groups of up to 25.
