BetMGM could be a top dog in Illinois, too
Much like Illinois, DraftKings and FanDuel are top dogs in New Jersey.
Each led the state in revenue in 2021 and in January 2022. However, the margin between the top two sportsbooks and BetMGM is quite wide. Across NJ, FanDuel made $877 million in 2021, DraftKings brought in $387 million, while BetMGM landed in third at $137 million.
Betting in Indiana is no different with DraftKings and FanDuel leading the pack.
Since October 2019, DraftKings has taken over $2 billion in handle, FanDuel has taken over $1 billion, and BetMGM has taken $649 million in handle the Hoosier state.
There is a decent chance that BetMGM lands in third for the most popular sportsbook in Illinois if this trend continues. However, that could take a while, as it will be playing catchup against long-established competitors.
