Bally’s Chicago has opened its VIP Lounge. The new lounge is the newest addition to the downtown temporary casino, which is located in the former Medinah Temple building.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 19 welcomed eligible guests to a quiet, exclusive lounge where they will receive special perks.

Mark Wong, vice president and general manager of Bally’s Chicago, said the VIP Lounge is “an exclusive benefit for VIP Bally Rewards members, [which] offers a relaxing space away from the gaming floor to socialize and enjoy complimentary food and non-alcoholic drinks.”

What can visitors expect at new VIP Lounge?

As long as Illinois online casinos remain off-limits, residents looking to play slots and table games must visit one of the state’s 15 retail casinos. The only casino currently located in downtown Chicago is Bally’s.

Wong notes that other VIP opportunities, such as high-limit slot machines and the VIP Player Services window, are on the third floor, not far from the VIP Lounge.

The new lounge is open from noon to 3 a.m. daily. It offers complimentary food service from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The menu lists meatballs, chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms, fried ravioli, and more.

The VIP Lounge, however, is not the place to enjoy alcoholic beverages. It’s more of a spot to relax and for private viewing of sporting events. There are four large-screen TVs in the lounge and seating for up to 30, and several non-alcoholic drinks options, like coffee, tea, sodas, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Construction to begin soon on permanent casino

The opening precedes the completion of Bally’s permanent Chicago casino.

The company expects to complete construction on its permanent casino in 2026. Demolition is set to begin soon at the Tribune Freedom Center site.

It will be one of just a few casinos situated in the downtown of a major city.
