Chicagoans, do you feel it? One day it’s snowing, the next it’s a sunny 60 degrees, the next torrential downpour. Must be spring! And with spring comes fresh opportunities to bet on baseball at an Illinois sportsbook. Locally, that means a chance to check out some Chicago Cubs odds and see what’s new at Wrigley Field.
The Cubbies play their home opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. With it comes brings a bevy of improvements and changes to the iconic Wrigley, including a new DraftKings sportsbook.
Wrigleyville’s new concessions
Fans of ballpark food will have plenty of new options this year at Wrigley Field. The park struck a deal with Coca-Cola, bringing Coke products to Wrigley for the first time in a staggering 42 years.
New food options will be available at concession stands throughout the stadium. Highlights of the new menu include:
- Loaded Greek fries
- A burger brat
- Crispy chicken bao buns
- Quesabirria with barbacoa
- Crispy chicken torta
Small Cheval is also among the 2023 additions to Wrigley. The retro-style burger joint will be available in the Budweiser Bleachers, alongside the iconic Hot Doug’s. Small Cheval has multiple locations in various Chicago neighborhoods: Wicker Park, Hyde Park and Old Town. The company’s flagship restaurant, Au Cheval, is located in the West loop. By many accounts, it’s one of the best burgers in Chicago. Small Cheval offers a — you guessed it — smaller taste of Au Cheval. But take it from me, they’re good. It’ll be a great addition to your ball game eats.
Enter the NÜTRL Zone
The DraftKings Sportsbook might be the proverbial talk of the town (or in this case, the Wrigleyville neighborhood). However, there’s a new Wrigley addition right above it (literally).
On top of the sportsbook is the new NÜTRL Zone, an outdoor terrace with new concession options. The new terrace was created as part of the Chicago Cubs’ partnership with NÜTRL Vodka Seltzer.
What else is new at Wrigley this season?
The big one is DraftKings Sportsbook, the first retail sportsbook to open in any Chicago sporting venue. The sportsbook hasn’t set an opening date, yet, though it’s expected to start taking bets sometime this year. It is just waiting on approval from the Illinois Gaming Board.
DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field will be able to welcome up to 1,000 guests. It’s not just a baseball thing, either. The sportsbook will be available all year for bettors.
While you wait, check out the MLB odds on the Cubs, their cross-town rivals the White Sox or any other team in the league.
Wrigley also plans to play host to a wide variety of promotions throughout the 2023 season.
Catching a Cubs game at Wrigley Field: quick guide
Gates open 90 minutes before most Cubs games. Gates open two hours prior to game time for Saturday games and “special occasions,” according to an MLB press release.
If you’re bringing a bag, be sure to check the restrictions first. Bags smaller than 16x16x8 are allowed. You can’t bring a backpack into Wrigley Field. There are exceptions for medical and diaper bags.
Wrigley Field does not accept cash. Make sure you bring a credit or debit card for any purchases you intend to make.
As for getting there, you have a few options. The Red Line stops at Addison, right outside of Wrigley Field. Buses also run on Addison and Clark. Wrigley has a Divvy Bike station for locals who prefer to hop on a rented bicycle.
If you’re driving, plan ahead. There are plenty of parking providers around Wrigley Field. You can also opt to find street parking further from the stadium. The nearby Lakeview neighborhood has a handful of options, though you’ll have a short trek to the ballpark from there.
Enjoy the game if you do plan to attend, and go Cubs go!
