The White Sox begin their season on Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels, and PointsBet is offering an enticing promotion to kick off the festivities.

If the White Sox score at least one run, you can double your money at PointsBet.

Here are the details of the offer.

PointsBet White Sox opening day special

The maximum wager for the promotion is $20. So, if Chicago scores a run against Los Angeles, you can win $20.

While it’s not a “no-brainer,” promotion, it’s about as close as you can get.

Last season, the White Sox averaged 5.1 runs per game. That mark led the AL Central and was second to the Yankees in the American League.

Chicago got shut out twice in 60 games last year, or in 3.3% of their games. With most of last year’s offense returning, we’re looking at a 95%-plus chance of a winning bet.

Dylan Bundy will start for the Angels on Thursday night. Bundy was good in 2020, finishing 6-3 with a 3.29 ERA.

In Bundy’s 11 starts last year, the Angels recorded one shutout. So, take all of that for what it’s worth.

First pitch is at 9:05 p.m. CST on Thursday. The game will air on NBC Sports Chicago, and PointsBet is the official sports betting partner of NBC.

Will the White Sox offense struggle without Eloy Jimenez?

White Sox fans received some grim news last week as star left fielder Eloy Jimenez tore his pectoral tendon. He is expected to miss several months.

Jimenez figured to play a key role in Chicago’s lineup. In 2020, he posted a .891 OPS at the age of 23.

While it’s disappointing, sportsbooks are still high on the White Sox.

PointsBet Sportsbook lists the Sox at +1,000 to win the World Series, tied for the fourth-shortest odds of all teams.

DraftKings, meanwhile, has Chicago listed at +850. The White Sox are also a -121 favorite to win the AL Central there.

The White Sox’s over/under season win total at DraftKings remains a healthy 90.5. With Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, Yoan Moncada, Yasmani Grandal and others still in the lineup, Chicago is decently prepared to weather an injury of this magnitude.

DraftKings offering Cubs booster

DraftKings, the official sports betting partner of the Chicago Cubs, is offering an opening day booster for the Northsiders.

The book is offering the Cubs, Yankees and Dodgers to win on Thursday at +230, boosted from +201.

The Cubs open up their season on Thursday at 1:20 p.m. CST against the lowly Pirates at Wrigley Field. The Yankees face the Blue Jays, while the Dodgers will battle the Rockies.

Sportsbooks are not as high on the Cubbies as they are the White Sox, however. The Cubs’ over/under win total at DraftKings is just 78.5, 12 wins below their crosstown rivals.
