BetMGM was recently licensed to launch its sportsbook in Illinois, as it will soon go toe-to-toe with the other top sportsbooks in Illinois, DraftKings and FanDuel.
It is speculated that BetMGM mobile betting will go live on or before March 5 when new users can once again register from their phones.
While these aren’t available in the state yet, here are a few examples of promotions Illinoisans can expect from MGM when the book launches in the coming weeks.
BetMGM NFL promo
Bettors can win $200 in bonus bets if a touchdown is scored in this weekend’s conference championship matchups in the NFL.
From just a $10 wager, bettors receive great return on investment in this promo. As long as a touchdown is scored in either the AFC Championship game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs or the NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, users will receive two $100 bonus bets.
Those winnings are not redeemable as cash, only as betting credits.
BetMGM NBA Promo
Users in New York can place a $10 bet on the Knicks moneyline at any point in the season and win $200 in free play deposits. The kicker: the bet will payout in four $50 free play increments whether the Knicks win or lose.
It’s quite possible that Illinois bettors will see a similar promo for the Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, or Blackhawks later this year when MGM is active in the Prairie State.
Significance of MGM in Illinois
DraftKings and FanDuel have been leading the way for Illinois sportsbooks in terms of monthly handle and revenue.
But based on metrics recently released by MGM, they will have a great shot at disrupting the sports betting market in Illinois.
By the numbers, MGM ranked second in sports betting and casino operation in markets in which it is live. They also hold a 24% market share in the following states: Colorado, Indiana, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
More sportsbooks to go live in 2022
When Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker reverted back to in-person registration for mobile betting accounts last April, it was a setback for sportsbooks with no partnerships with physical locations in Illinois.
This has impacted other possible sportsbooks from entering the market, but 2022 could also see the advent of Bally Bet, Unibet, and FOX Bet in Illinois among others.
With more sportsbooks competing with one another, it should only be a positive for Illinois bettors. Books will try competing with one another by offering the best odds, the best promos, the most user-friendly mobile interface, etc.
